Teaching strategies
East Vancouver Driving School implemented driving training strategies for beginners, intermediate and advanced drivers. For students with no driving experience, driving lessons start in a quiet, low traffic neighborhood. The student will start driving training with developing basic vehicle control skills, starting and stopping, backing up and parking. Your driving instructor will explain and, if necessary, demonstrate how to perform each maneuver. We use graphic diagrams in order to trigger the student’s visual memory on how to perform a driving maneuver.
During the driving lesson, driving instructor will asses the student on how he/she is performing maneuvers and will point on areas of improvement.
As the student develops his/her driving skills, driving lessons are being conducted on roads with low and moderate traffic. Now your driver training includes turning right and left, right of way at the intersection, stop signs and traffic lights. At this stage, your driving education is evolving around developing of defensive driving habits and abilities to drive safe in different traffic situations.
The last stage of the training consists in entering/driving/exiting highways, complex intersection passing and complex hazard recognition techniques. The student is assessed at all levels regarding procedure, safety and defensiveness of his/her driving.
For intermediate and advanced drivers, before starting driving training, our driving instructor will inquire about the main purpose of driver training and will conduct a general evaluation at the beginning of the first lesson. Depending on the objective, driver training will be focused on areas that need to be improved.
For new BC drivers with driving experience outside of Canada, our driving school provides a teaching program that allows them to adjust quickly their current driving skills to British Columbia’s driving requirements. Driving lessons will concentrate on developing see-think-do skills as well as following the main patterns of a defensive driving. This will help the new driver to show a high level of preparation and pass the ICBC road test.
